Taxi:  This class is for taxis.

Prior to 1982, "H" was the class code for taxis.

Beginning in 1982, the plate number format is, from left to right, the Alabama county codes prefix, the "Z" plate code and vehicle weight code number, then the plate number.  The vehicle weight codes are as follows:

"Z1" = less than 2,500 lbs.
"Z2" = 2,501 lbs. to 3,000 lbs.
"Z3" = 3,000 lbs. to 3,500 lbs.
"Z4" = 3,501 lbs. to 4,000 lbs.
"Z5" = over 4,000 lbs.
