PASSENGER

Passenger: This class is for standard personal passenger vehicles.

Non-winter use in Anchorage & Fairbanks:  Beginning in 1992, stickers with the first digit of the year (the "9" in "92" or the "0" in "05") printed in opposite colors are for Anchorage and Fairbanks cars that are not operated in the wintertime (November through April).  For example, the standard "05" sticker is black/white.  "05" stickers that have a white "0" in a black rectangle are for non-winter Anchorage and Fairbanks cars.

1981 blue/yellow screened "ALASKA":  This base began in 1981 ("82" expiration stickers) and replaced the 1976 bear plate by the end of 1982.  To date, it is the only blue/yellow type that had the state name screened on the plate.  The plate number format is "XXA 000".

1997 "Gold Rush":  This base began in late 1997 ("98" expiration stickers) and commemorated the centennial of the Alaskan gold rush.  It comes in two types: with and without the stickerwells in the top corners.  The plate number format continued the "AAA 000" format and picked up where the previous base left off.
