PASSENGER 1930 (black/yellow) mint ***PAIR*** $50.00
Idaho has county coded its plates since 1932. See the Idaho county codes page. 1968 dated base: This design began Idaho's multiyear plate series' and came in many varieties. I will try to list the varieties later. The standard county coding is at the left and the explanation can be found on the Idaho county codes page.
1971 dateless base: Similar to the previous "68" design, but with the date removed. This design variety is the same as the last "68" variety and was used from 1971 through 1973. It was replaced, along with all of the "68" base varieties, with the "74" dated base. The standard county coding is at the left and the explanation can be found on the Idaho county codes page.
1974 dated base: Similar to the previous "68" design, but with the "74" date. Varieties exist on this base in the placement of the "IDAHO 74" at the top. Some are fully centered, while others have the "IDAHO" portion centered with the "74" still to the right. The standard county coding is at the left and the explanation can be found on the Idaho county codes page.
1975 dateless base: Similar to the previous "74" design, but with the date again removed. Numerous varieties exist on this base, such as with and without stickerwells and plate number spacing. The standard county coding is at the left and the explanation can be found on the Idaho county codes page.
1982 screened "IDAHO" base: Similar to the previous design with "IDAHO" now screened. The "A" in the state name appears as a tree and snow-capped mountain peaks. The standard county coding is at the left and the explanation can be found on the Idaho county codes page.
1985 green/white with screened mountains base: This design is a modification of the previous screened "IDAHO", but includes stylized mountains at the top right, a green double-line under the mountains and "IDAHO", and a green double-line at the bottom of the plate. The standard county coding is at the left and the explanation can be found on the Idaho county codes page. There are three variations of this design:
1990 (green/reflective white) Nez Perce County type II natural vg $3.00 "N 35 571" (10003)
1991 red/white/blue base: This design was born from the popular centennial design and originally had a small stacked (or single letter) county code. Approximately 1998, the state changed to a full sized county code for clarity. The standard county coding at the left is explained on the Idaho county codes page. In the beginning, the county code was followed by an all numeric plate number up to six digits. The four digit format was "0000", five digits in either a "00 000" (stacked code) or a "00000" (large code) format, and the six digit in a "000 000" format. When the six digit all numeric format was exhausted, that county went to a "A0000" format following the county code, then a "AA000" format.
