"79" base:  The following design began in 1979 and had a screened "79" in the right stickerwell.  Each year was renewed with stickers through being replaced by the blue bar base below in a general issue.

1983 blue bar base:  The following design began in 1983 ("83" or "84" renewal sticker).  "83" through "86" stickers were half the size of the stickerwell on the bottom of the plate and were placed either on the left side or the right side of the stickerwell.  Starting with the "87" sticker, the sticker was the full width of the stickerwell.  The state used many different plate number formats, including "000 000", "AA 0000", "AAA 000", among others.

2001 Lincoln graphic:  The following design, introduced in 2001 ("01" and "02" stickers), phased out the old blue bar plates.  The first plate number configuration was "000 0000", followed by "A00 0000".  Prior plate numbers were allowed to be issued on the new base.
