TRUCK TRACTOR This class of plate is similar to the commercial truck plate. The validation period is also a fiscal year of July 1 to June 30 and the suffix letter for this class is a weight code. These plates, however, are differentiated from the commercial trucks in that they have a tiny "T" to the left and above the weight code suffix. I don't know if this class was used for the "B" weight class prior to its separation from the commercial truck plate series in 1983. Similar to the commercial truck plates, the weight code letters are as follows (this list is not perfect as the weight codes can vary from year to year and in some years, some letters were excluded and other letters, like "Q" and "V", included:
According to the Illinois website (as of February 4, 2012), the weight classes are listed below. It is not known when this list was established, so I don't know if there are any differences between the list and what was available prior to 2012:
1990 (blue/reflective light blue) "R" m $1.50 "2799 tR" (12467)
1994 (black/reflective yellow) "V" m $1.50 "524 tV" (12438)
