PASSENGER, "81" wheat base Passenger: Up to 1975, Kansas issued plates yearly. Beginning with the embossed "76" plate, renewal stickers were issued yearly after a new multiyear base was issued, the first year of expiration being embossed or screened onto the plate in the stickerwell. Because Kansas county codes the plates, and, at times, includes a month code, there are a number of possible varieties. I have a very nice (and large) selection of varieties, including the county and month codes. So that downloading a Kansas passenger page doesn't overload your computer, I have split them into the following bases, each being a link to my website page of that type:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1981 wheat base: The following design began in 1980 (unpainted debossed "81" in the top right corner) and features shafts of wheat at the left side of the plate. The design was used through 1987 ("88" expiration sticker). The stacked 2-letter prefix is the county code (see Kansas county codes page). The letter following the county code is the expiration month code (see passenger month codes page). The year sticker will have "AUTO" on it and the sticker serial number will begin with the same two-letter county code as the plate. 1981 (reflective white/blue) Ford County, April natural vg $3.00 "FO C 789" (10063)
1983 (reflective white/blue) Seward County, June vg $3.00 "SW H 992" (11540)
1984 (reflective white/blue) Finney County, September vg $3.00 "FI R 1325" (10415)
1984 (reflective white/blue) Lincoln County, June vg $3.00 "LC H 179" (11544)
1986 (reflective white/blue) Harvey County, November vg $3.00 "HV V 516" (10720)
1988 (reflective white/blue) Finney County, June vg $3.00 "FI H 152" (11039)
1988 (reflective white/blue) Finney County, August vg $3.00 "FI M 255" (11418)
