TRUCK, LIGHT (maximum weight 6,000 lbs.)

The truck class expired yearly and were replaced by new yearly plates.  The number on the plate, either above or below the plate number indicates the vehicle's weight limit in pounds.  Light trucks (like pick-ups) with a maximum weight of 6,000 lbs. were renewed with yearly stickers and the color schemes were changed to coincide with the related passenger design.  Heavy trucks were issued replacement plates each year with an expiration date of either March 31st or April 1st.  This basic difference is the reason why I put the two classifications on different pages.  Click to go to heavy trucks: truck, heavy.
