USED CAR DEALER The plate number format is the county number, either a dot or a stacked "U/D" for used car dealer separator, the dealer number in that county, and the number plate (beginning with "1") for that dealer. In years when the top portion of the plate was blank, the plate came either with or without a "DEALER" (later "DEMO") sticker at the top. With the sticker meant that the vehicle was covered by the dealership's insurance. Without the sticker meant that the vehicle was not covered by insurance. 1989 (black/reflective white) Glacier County g $2.00 "38 UD 8-3" (12921)
1990 (red/reflective white) Roosevelt County vg $3.00 "17 UD 8-10" (12179)
"92" base: This brown/white base had an embossed "92" in the bottom right corner inside the state outline and was renewed for 1993 and 1994 with stickers. The plate number format was "00 U/D 00-00". The plate number was the county code, followed by a stacked "U" over "D" for "used dealer", and the dealership number in that county. After the dealer number, a centered dot separated it from the number of the plate for that dealer. For example, for dealer #1 in county #1, all their plates began with "1 U/D 1-". After the dot separator, the dealer's plates were number consecutively from #1 up. Vehicles that were covered by the dealership's insurance used plates with a "DEALER" sticker placed at the top of the plate. Those not covered did not have the sticker and the top was left blank. 1994 (brown/reflective white) Missoula County vg $3.00 "4UD40-5" (13264)
"01" base: This blue/white base had an embossed "01" in the bottom right corner inside the state outline and was renewed for 2002 with a sticker. Vehicles not covered and used for demonstration purposes only had a "DEMO" sticker at the top instead. 2001 (blue/reflective white) Yellowstone County m $3.00 "3UD118-7" (13398)
