DEALER "76" base: This base began in 1976 and was renewed in 1977 and 1978 with stickers. A new base was issued in 1979. The plate number format was the county code at left, followed by a "D" (for dealer), then the dealership number in that county. "79" base: This base began in 1979 and was renewed in 1980 with a sticker. A new base was issued in 1981. The plate number format was the county code at left, followed by a "D" (for dealer), then the dealership number in that county. The plate number format is the county number, either a dot or "D" for dealer separator, the dealer number in that county, and the number plate (beginning with "1") for that dealer. In years when the top portion of the plate was blank, the plate came either with or without a "DEALER" sticker at the top. With the sticker meant that the vehicle was covered by the dealership's insurance.
