PASSENGER - 1991 "Big Sky" base

Passenger:  Up to 1975, Montana issued either yearly plates or multiyear plates that are renewed for only one or a few extra years before a general reissue provided new plates for everyone.  Because Montana county codes the plates, the pages can get enormous to download.  I have a very nice (and large) selection of counties, so beginning with the 1976 bicentennial design plate, I have split the pages into the following bases, each being a link to my website page of that type:

1991 "Big Sky" base:  This design began in 1991 ("92" sticker) and ran to 1999 ("2000" sticker) when it was replaced by the "2000" design.  The plate number has the county code (see "Montana county codes" page) at left followed by a dot separator and the plate number.  For passenger plates, single digit county numbers ("1" through "9") had a "P" (for "passenger") following the plate number, for example, single digit counties had a plate number format of "1P-0000A" and two digit counties had a plate number format of "11-0000A".  When Yellowstone County #3 (Billings) passed plate number "3P-9999Z", the county went to a "3P-000AA" plate number format.
