TRAILER, SMALL SIZE Small size trailer (motorcycle sized): This type originally began in 1965 as a "personal trailer" plate and was for trailers under 6,000 pounds. In 1967, the small trailer type was divided into "UNDER 2500 LBS." and "UNDER 6000 LBS.". Ultimately, in 1976, the type was combined back together and all plates simply say "TRAILER" through the present. In 1965, 1966, and 1976 through the present, the plate number is the county code to the left of the separator and the plate number to the right. The weight years of 1967 through 1975 have a stacked "T/R" (for trailer) as a separator of the county code at left and plate number at right. For county codes, see the "county code" page.
