1984 desert scene graphic:  This base was introduced in 1984 ("85" expiration stickers) and began at plate number "001 BAA".  Although there are variations in the color of the "NEVADA" and the plate numbers between blue and dark blue, I have not differentiated my plates that way as distinctive types.  However, there is one other distinct variety that I do identify.  When this design began, the sheep in the top left of the plate was to the right of the top left bolthole, near the "NEVADA".  At some point, the sheep was moved to the other side of the bolthole, or "far" from "NEVADA".  Appropriately, I call these varieties "near" and "far" sheep.

2001 sierra sunset graphic:  This base was introduced in 2001 ("2002" stickers) and replaced all previous bases, including the blue bases from 1969 through the desert graphic of 1984.  Owners of the blue bases had the option of receiving a sierra sunset base with a new plate number or a remade blue base plate with the old number.  Owners of the desert graphic had the option of receiving the sierra sunset base with either a new plate number or with the old desert graphic plate number.  In other words, although the sierra sunset base began at "000-MAA", plate numbers before the "MAA" block exist due to owners maintaining their desert graphic plate numbers on the new sierra sunset plate.

2006 sierra sunset graphic, flat:  This base is the same as the embossed version above and began in late 2006 ("2007" expiration stickers) with the "TUA" block.
