PASSENGER, PRE-1964 GOLD/BLUE BASE Passenger: Beginning with the state's last general issue base in 1956, Oregon has issued relatively few multiyear bases, all renewed with yearly stickers and still in use today, provided they are on the original vehicle. Because I happened to obtain a large collection of the 1964 and 1974 base plates, the pages can get enormous to download. Beginning with the 1964 gold/blue base, I have split the pages into the following bases, each being a link to my website page of that type:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1956 gold/blue base: Oregon's first multiyear base also featured a new month coding system. The plate format used was "0A-0000" with the letter being a month code. The month codes ran in order from "A" through "M", skipping "I", with each month having it's own letter (i.e. - "A" for January, "B" for February, etc.).
1960 "PACIFIC WONDERLAND" base: For the first and only time, Oregon plates featured this new slogan. However, due to opposition from non-coastal areas of Oregon, this base was short-lived and a new non-slogan design was issued in 1964. The plate number format continued the "0A-0000" format, again with the letter being the month code, but using "N" through "Z" for each month (skipping "O").
