The plate number format has varied over the life of this series, sometimes with the county code at the left followed by the "H0" or "HA" weight code (sometimes stacked) and the plate number, sometimes without the county code.

"PM" - "PO" = 9,001 to 16,000 lbs.
"PP" - "PQ" = 16,001 to 20,000 lbs.
"PR" & "PZ" = 20,000 to 26,000 lbs.
"PS" = 26,001 to 32,000 lbs.
"PT" = 32,001 to 38,000 lbs.
"PU" = 38,001 to 44,000 lbs.
"PV" = 44,001 to 56,000 lbs.
"PW" = 56,001 to 66,000 lbs.
"PX" = 66,001 to 74,000 lbs.
"PY" = 74,001 to 80,000 lbs.

1994 "bicenTENNial" base:  This design began in 1994 (screened "95" expiration in stickerwell) and celebrates the 200th anniversary of statehood in 1996.  The plate number prefix blocks coincided with their related "P/0" weight codes at the bottom.  The "P/0" weight code at the bottom is then followed by the maximum weight of the vehicle (empty).  The lower stickerwells are for county and local tax stickers, if any:

"P/1", "PA"-"PL" & "PA-A"-"PL-Z"= up to 9,000 lbs.
"P/2", "PM"-"PN" & "PM-A"-"PN-Z" = 9,001 to 16,000 lbs.
"P/3", "PP" & "PP-A" = 16,001 to 20,000 lbs.
"P/4", "PR" & "PR-Z" = 20,000 to 26,000 lbs.
"P/5", "PS" & "PS-A" = 26,001 to 32,000 lbs.
"P/6", "PT" = 32,001 to 38,000 lbs.
"P/7", "PU" = 38,001 to 44,000 lbs.
"P/8", "PV" = 44,001 to 56,000 lbs.
"P/9", "PW" = 56,001 to 66,000 lbs.
"P/10", "PX" = 66,001 to 74,000 lbs.

2000 "Sounds good to me" base:  This design began in 2000 (screened "2001" expiration in stickerwell) and features a new slogan.  At the bottom is the maximum weight of the vehicle (empty) and the lower stickerwells are for county and local tax stickers, if any.  The vehicle weight limit at the bottom of the plate exists with both narrow and wide dies.  The vehicle weight codes for the 2000 "Sounds good to me" base are as follows:

"P/1" = up to 9,000 lbs.
"P/2" = 9,001 to 16,000 lbs.
"P/3" = 16,001 to 20,000 lbs.
"P/4" = 20,000 to 26,000 lbs.
"P/5" = 26,001 to 32,000 lbs.
"P/6" = 32,001 to 38,000 lbs.
"P/7" = 38,001 to 44,000 lbs.
"P/8" = 44,001 to 56,000 lbs.
"P/9" = 56,001 to 66,000 lbs.
"P/10" = 66,001 to 74,000 lbs.
"P/11" = 74,001 to 80,000 lbs.
